Job summary

An exciting new role within the SELSE HCC (South East London and South East Haemoglobinopathy Coordinating Centre) has arisen.

NHS England established ten Haemoglobinopathy Coordinating Centres (HCCs) across England to lead and support networks of care for people living with sickle cell disease and thalassemia. Each HCC provides leadership, coordination, education and administration across its Network.

The South East London and the South East (SELSE) Haemoglobinopathy Coordinating Centre (HCC) is jointly hosted by Guy's and St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust and King's College NHS Foundation Trust.

This role is for an Education Lead Nurse within the core HCC team. The Network Education Lead Nurse provides senior clinical and professional nursing leadership across the Haemoglobinopathy Network. Through strong visible clinical leadership, the post holder will ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, equitable and patient-centred care for people with haemoglobinopathies and their families within the Network.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a forward thinking senior nurse who has excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to lead, develop Haemoglobinopathy education in our region.

You must have a proven track record of progressive leadership, development and practice education, be an effective role model and be self-motivated with the passion, drive and adaptability to cope with continuously changing service.

The Lead Nurse will lead on education and training, workforce development service development, quality assurance and patient experience across the Network, working collaboratively with the Network Clinical Leads & Nursing, the Senior Network Manager, local Clinical Leads & Nursing, multidisciplinary teams and external partners, including patient groups.

  • A Masters level qualification in nursing or a post graduate qualification is desirable but not essential.
