The Orthopaedic Surgery Department at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust seeks applications for the post of Clinical Fellow in Hand & Wrist Surgery.
Main duties of the job
- To provide high quality orthopaedic services to the Trust patients including the development of the service.
- To participate in clinical and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care.
- To participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training
- To gain further surgical and outpatient experience and develop an expertise in the management of orthopaedic conditions.
- To develop fellowship level skills in your chosen area of expertise.To participate in a relevant research project.

Job responsibilities
The successful candidate will work within the Orthopaedic Department at Guys & St. Thomas Hospitals, for Mr. Gidwani and Mr. Garagnani. They will also assist in the Trusts hand trauma unit and attend a hand trauma list, working closely with colleagues in plastic surgery. The post provides extensive exposure to a wide range of hand surgery, including for osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, wrist pathology, and congenital hand differences.
The candidates will be expected to participate in clinical, audit and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care. Candidates will also be expected to take an active part in research and undergraduate and postgraduate training and contribute to the management of the clinical service and service development.
There is a 1:9 weekend elective orthopaedic on-call rota based at Guys hospital, in which the hand fellow will be expected to participate. There is also the option to assist with regular Saturday elective operating lists.
