Job summary

12 Month Maternity Cover (FTC or Secondment)This senior role comes with high expectations and influence in order to deliver ambitious category strategies and category plans that anticipate as well as respond to external challenges. You will be key in driving benefits and revenue generation activity both regionally and nationally and in attracting new customers.

You will need to have expert technical workforce and/or HR procurement experience and deep category management skills. In addition to proven commercial acumen the role requires significant leadership experience across multi-disciplinary stakeholders, with particular emphasis on NHS Workforce managers.

You will be leading and supporting a dedicated team of workforce experts.

Main duties of the job

A key part of this role is implementing the NHS LPP vision & strategy, approved by the NHS LPP Steering Board, and in delivering the aspiration of the Board to become a world- class procurement partner of choice for the NHS and the wider public sector. The role is also requires very close working with Workforce Alliance colleagues and representing the organisation on the WA Management Operating Board.

This role will be key in supporting the Categories Director to implement the Category Management methodology across the workstream in order to deliver an ambitious 3 - 5 year category strategy and category plans that anticipate as well as respond to external challenges, whilst meeting the requirements of stakeholders at a regional and national level to help both NHS LPP and the Workforce Alliance and members achieve their financial targets

Support the Category Director to develop the commercial strategic direction of the Workforce workstream in order to implement the NHS LPP and WA strategy and vision.

Knowledge/Qualifications

Essential

  • MBA/ Degree or equivalent qualification or in depth senior level experience
  • Member Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply or equivalent
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable

  • e-Procurement training
  • NHS experience

  • Significant and extensive senior procurement experience in a senior procurement and supply chain role including public or private sector experience.
  • Experience of project managing complex procurement activities from initial planning to contract award

Desirable

  • Demonstrable experience of Workforce/HR category
  • Track record in delivering recurrent non-pay savings to the customer base

  • Communicate detailed and complex contractual issues with internal management and staff and externally with clinicians, suppliers and other NHS and Government bodies
