Main duties of the job
We are seeking a full-time (10 PA) Consultant to join a dynamic, enthusiastic and forward thinking Directorate, which has undergone significant growth in the last decade. The directorate is currently involved in many exciting initiatives and are looking for individuals with appropriate skills to complement this team and help build the Paediatric Urology Service to remain at the forefront of clinical and academic excellence.
About us
The Urology department will include 5 consultants including this post. There are specialist subservices and joint clinics for foetal medicine, urology-endocrine, stones, anorectal malformation and post-transition to adult urology. Middle grades include and ESPU fellow, paediatric surgical and adult urology trainees.
The Nephro-Urology department includes three specialities. As well as Urology there is a highly specialized bladder disorder service, with 3 consultants specialized in care of children with bladder function abnormalities. There is large Nephrology department with whom the urology department has a close working relationship. Nephrology and Urology patients are cared for on the same ward, facilitating shared care of those patients. There are weekly joint imaging meetings, and regular joint posterior urethral valve and stone clinics.
There are close links with the transplant surgical team based at Guy's Hospital, who perform the paediatric transplants at ELCH. In addition there are good working relationships with the adult urology department.
We have excellent histopathology, radiology, and interventional radiology services.
