Main duties of the job

We have fantastic opportunities for experienced neonatal nurses who are looking to develop their careers. We are a tertiary referral centre incorporating 20 NICU, 12 HDU and 14 special care cots. We provide an unrivalled breadth of experience, caring for babies with surgical, cardiac, neurological, renal and metabolic disorders as well as those born prematurely.

We provide excellent development opportunities for Band 6 Neonatal Nurses. In addition we have a structured Band 6 Management Program were we encourage and provide support for experienced Band 6 nurses to develop their leadership skills in taking charge of each of the clinical areas, and prepare them for the challenge of the next step in their career.

The post holder is responsible for assessment of care needs of patients, planning programmes of care, implementation and evaluation of these programmes without direct supervision.

The post holder will be a key member in relation to the development of practice on the ward. They will be working independently/autonomously and at times without direct supervision, accountable for their own professional actions. Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of services users, and always working in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through the adoption of person centred care principles.

  • Independently manage a group of patients within the specialty whilst working as part of the multidisciplinary team, delivering individualised and personalised direct patient care
  • Demonstrate appropriate practice and specialist advice in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. This includes history taking, physical examination and the requesting of agreed diagnostic procedures/clinical investigations.
