Job summary
The post-holder will be assigned to thoracic tumours, working closelywith a team of oncology and surgical consultants. Post holder is encouraged to document their achievements and progress. Your supervisor will be Dr Eleni (Lena) Karapanagiotou and Mr Andrea Bille. They will oversee your progress.
The post will be largely outpatient based with up to four oncology clinics a week supervised by our consultants. One of the clinics will be the TET (thymic epithelial Tumours) clinic which treats complex TET patients. Post-holders will be trained to prescribe systemic anti cancer treatments and to manage toxicities.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will participate in clinical, research and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care. The postholder will be particularly involved in the Twin-Point study (a translational study recruiting patients with early NSCLC who had an operation and they have recurred. These patients have donated their cancer tissue for organoid formation and their blood. The postholder will be responsible for supervising the RWE thoracic database. There are opportunities to be sub-investigators on clinical trials and work on clinical audits and quality improvement projects. Leadership opportunities are also available.
The post-holder will participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training. A comprehensive weekly teaching programme is available including tumour-specific teaching and a journal club.

Guy's and St Thomas' is a Joint Cancer Centre with King's College Hospital that offers a full range of services for the diagnosis and treatment of all adult cancers. Patients from across South East London attends for treatment which is not available at their local hospital. The Trust's cancer services will be provided at both Guy's and St Thomas' sites as well as the new site at Queen Mary's Sidcup, Kent.

Clinical:

a) Diagnosis and treatment of patients of the Trust in such hospitals, health centres or clinics or other premises as required.
b) Continuing clinical responsibility for the patients in your charge, allowing for all proper delegation to, and training of, your staff.
c) The majority of the role will be in oncology outpatients, oncology wards or AOAU.
Training of junior staff:
The post-holders will take responsibility for the training and direction of junior staff allocated to him/her under aegis of the training plan that that post-holders has agreed with their supervising consultant.
Teaching:
The post-holder will be expected to contribute as appropriate in the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Clinical Governance:
All medical and dental staff are expected to take part in clinical governance activity, including clinical audit, clinical guideline and protocol development and clinical risk management. They will be expected to produce evidence of their contribution in these areas and their audit of their own clinical work as part of their appraisal.
