An exciting opportunity has arisen to apply for a Advanced Financial Analyst role within the ISM finance team, at Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.
Main duties of the job
The role of the Advanced Financial Analyst is a demanding one supporting the production of monthly reports, projections, and analysis in one of the largest NHS Trusts in the country. The post holder will also help plan and lead on specific areas of work that may cut across the whole Trust.This role will support Clinical areas. The key focus of the role is to produce the monthly set of management accounting information. This will involve meeting with budget-holders and generating intelligence to support forecasting and business plans whilst supporting Senior Financial Management staff. The successful candidate is also expected to take the lead in setting up new reports, reviewing existing standards and provide training to budget-holders and other key staffThe ideal applicant will already have substantial experience of working within a finance function with proven experience in a Financial Management role. You will be enthusiastic and keen to learn. You will have a good eye for detail, the ability to meet deadlines, strong communication and advanced IT skills.

- Educated to at least AAT certificate level, or degree level, or equivalent experience.
- Significant progress made towards completing a CCAB qualification.
Skills

- Advanced ECDL qualification, spreadsheet skills to 'macro' level.
- A good working knowledge of the method of operation of all the accounting sub-systems.
- Understand the use and purpose of accounting accruals and provisions.
- Understand the use and purpose of balance sheet accounts for stock accounting.
- Understand the concepts and methodologies used in the costing of services.
- Be able to prepare statements of budget and actual performance from a trial balance.
- Be able to identify and investigate significant variances summarising the financial position and identifying trends.
