Job summary

Responsible for the strategic direction for training for relevant applications, aligning to the ITCS Training Strategy. Working in close partnership with the Epic app leads to develop delivery plans to meet requirements of cross-organisational directorates/care Groups and staff. Continual improvement of training development and delivery, utilising digital technologies/tools to maximise reach. Ensure training can be accessed remotely to support streamlined onboarding of bank/agency staff. Content adaption to support different learning styles and compliance with accessibility standards.Lead a team of Principal Trainers, IT Trainers and Junior IT Trainers, providing guidance to drive high quality outputs, innovative thinking and developing staff to support multiple app areas. Work with the LMS team to ensure training (eLearning, assessments, libraries, guidance etc) is structured and clearly sign-posted.Supporting Training Delivery Leads to gather training requirements and transformation opportunities, providing an equitable training service and opportunities for all directorates/care groups.Work in partnership with Medical Education and Clinical Training teams across the organisations, ensuring training materials, content and learning objectives for staff are aligned and combined to provide accurate end-to-end workflow and clinical/operational context.

The successful candidate will be expected to work onsite, at one of our hospital sites for a minimum of 50% of the time.

Main duties of the job

There will be a number of key strands to the role:

  • Lead the development of strategy and delivery plans for the applications assigned to the role, within the context of the over-arching ITCS Training Strategy; ensuring consideration for staff/professional groups, different learning styles, training cohorts (students, bank/agency etc..) and accessibility
  • Lead a team of trainers setting the strategic direction and outline plans/scope of their work to ensure consistent standards and quality outputs, timely delivery and prioritisation
  • Support the Ambulatory Training team to streamline processes and to optimise the way LMS and other systems/tools are used
  • Working in partnership with the ITCS Epic Application teams to design and shape changes to build/functionality, and oversee the updates to training products to align to these changes
  • Work in partnership with Medical Education and Clinical Training teams to align learning objectives, materials and where appropriate combining content for cohorts of staff
  • The post holder will take a lead on one or more projects, responsible for planning, day-to-day delivery, and subsequent performance management, adjusting plans as required to ensure that risks and issues are mitigated
  • Senior PT - Ambulatory will lead the Thrive programme for doctors and other clinicians, ensuring end users are upskilled in system personalisation and proficiency

Essential

  • Epic Training Certificate in at least one Application (further training given in post and must be completed within the first 5 months of role)
  • Educated to masters level or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.

Desirable

  • Teaching Certificate, or experience in delivering training to adults learners within a hospital (Additional Training will be given in post)
  • Formal qualification in Project management (PRINCE 2 / Agile) to practitioner level or equivalent

Experience

Essential

  • Experience as Principal/Senior Trainer in another organisation (preferably NHS) - can provide specialist knowledge to other specialists/trainers
  • In depth specialist knowledge of healthcare workflow and processes underpinned by experience in EPR systems, including Epic
  • Experience of leading the design, implementation, training, reporting and delivery of training services across complex organisations, complying with internal and external standards & regulations
  • Experience delivering training using a range of methodologies including online and interactive e-learning, classroom, one to one and large groups
  • Evidence of configuration expertise, continuous improvement and optimisation of training processes, LMS and training systems

Desirable

  • Proven experience with eLearning development tools (Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, Camtasia) and Learning Management Systems
