Job summary
This post provides the opportunity for a senior physician in training with an interest in oncology trials to experience modern outpatient-based systemic therapy for cancer, and to participate in the delivery of novel targeted and immune therapies delivered within Phase 1 studies. The trials activity takes place in the state-of-the-art Clinical Research Facility (CRF) at Guy's Hospital, accredited by MHRA for the conduct of Phase 1 trials including first in human studies. The Fellow may also attend general medical oncology outpatients, and support oncology education through the Guy's Cancer Academy (including undergraduate teaching). The post is therefore suitable for a candidate with full general medical qualification, seeking to progress their specialist training in this discipline, and who has specific interests in clinical drug development.

Guy's Cancer Centre
Guy's and St Thomas' hosts a Joint Cancer Centre with King's College Hospital that offers a full range of services for the diagnosis and treatment of all adult cancers. Patients from across South East London attend for treatment which is not available at their local hospital. The Trust's cancer services are provided at both Guy's and St Thomas' sites as well as a satellite site at Queen Mary's Sidcup, Kent.
GSTT aims to build an internationally renowned Comprehensive Cancer Centre by:
Providing the very best cancer service to patients by combining first class clinical care with ground-breaking research and high quality training and development
Improving outcomes and experience for cancer patients with complex needs through earlier diagnosis, effective treatment and the provision of high quality survivorship care
Embedding whole person care across the cancer pathway and striving to bring treatment programmes closer to home
Developing and testing new biological and cellular therapies in a range of cancers, in close partnership with the School of Cancer & Pharmaceutical Sciences of King's College London.
Opening a new £160 million cancer centre at Guy's Hospital in 2016 and a sister centre in Bexley in 2017, which are transforming the delivery of cancer services, so patients will receive the right treatment at the right time, delivered within fewer visits and tailored to their need.
