The Interventional Radiology (IR) department within the Clinical Imaging and Medical Physics (CLIMP) Directorate at Guy's and St Thomas' is one of the largest and most diverse in England. A team of 11 IR consultants supported by a dedicated nursing, radiographic and administrative team provide comprehensive vascular, interventional oncological, renal and paediatric clinical service. The department has a vacancy for the position of Clinical Fellow in Interventional Radiology for a period of 1 year.
The post does not attract a UK National Training Number. Applicants must be GMC registered and demonstrate an ethos that promotes teamwork, flexibility and commitment to the service. In return the department can offer a range of learning opportunities and the chance to contribute to service improvement and developments.The postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable adults and/or children (0-18 years) and therefore this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Main duties of the job
Clinical: The post holder will, together with colleagues, be responsible for the provision of Interventional Radiology services to the Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Hospital and Evelina Children's Hospital to include:
Diagnosis and treatment of patients of the trust in such hospitals, health centres or clinics or other premises as required.
Performing the spectrum of IR procedures undertaken at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital NHS Trust and the Evelina Children's Hospital.
Assessing patients in dedicated clinics
Carrying out ward rounds
Chairing multidisciplinary team meetings
To report CTA/MRA, cross-sectional imaging relevant to IR and general diagnostic radiology examinations
To participate in a 1 in 6 IR fellows on-call rota

St Thomas SiteAs the acute site it provides patient care in Surgery, Medicine, Emergency, obstetricsand elderly care, a forty-two bed ITU, three HDUs as well as busy outpatientDepartment.The Radiology Department is in 3 main locations: Main Department: 3 multislice CTs (one dual source Siemens Force), 1 1.5T MRI, 2Endovascular/ Interventional Radiology Suites, multiple Digital Radiography rooms, 3Ultrasound Rooms, 1 fluoroscopy room. Emergency Department: Recently upgraded as part of a four year programme totransform the Emergency Floor of STH and completed in 2018. The Imaging area nowcomprises 3 digital imaging rooms, a multi-slice dual source Siemens Force CTscanner, an Ultrasound space and Reporting room. Womens Department is situated at St Thomas in excess of 5000 deliveries per annumand is supported by Gynae and Obstetric Ultrasound.Guys SiteThe main services based at Guys include elective orthopaedic, urological and renaldialysis and transplant services and a large oncology service.There is one large Imaging Department split over two floors and it comprises: Digital radiography rooms, 1 fluoroscopy room 1 interventional radiology suite, 2 1.5T MRI 2 x 3T MRI 2 multi-slice CT scanners. 3 Colour Doppler ultrasound machines with outreach to Urology services in a dedicatedfacility. A purpose built breast unit encompassing 2 digital mammography units, 2 stereotacticbiopsy units, and 3 dedicated ultrasound machines and separate reception facilities.
