The Occupational Health, Safety and Well-being Service (OHSWB) at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust is appointing full time consultant posts to join our dynamic, enthusiastic and forward thinking team. The OHSWB is currently involved in many exciting initiatives and are looking for an individual with appropriate skills to complement this team and help keep the service in the forefront of clinical and academic excellence.

Main duties of the job

Applications are invited from suitably qualified occupational physicians to provide clinical services across a wide range of clients comprising NHS andnon-NHS institutions.

The post is to provide 1.0 whole time equivalent consultant (10 PA). There is potential to consider job share and part time working options.

This post provides a unique opportunity to either become involved in OH research as the post holder could have 2 dedicated PAs (equivalent to one day) for research during the first 12 months of their employment.

Alternatively, the post holder may have 2 dedicated PAs (equivalent to one day) to plan, develop and implement an educational training programme to support visiting professionals in acquiring skills, knowledge and experience in occupational medicine.

There is also opportunity to support commercial occupational health provision.

The post holder will contribute to the clinical governance and will act as clinical and educational supervisors to Occupational Medicine trainees.

OHSWB services are provided from three main sites at St Thomas', Royal Brompton and Harefield hospital sites. The present occupational health service is one of the largest and most advanced in England, and the first NHS service to be SEQOHS- accredited. We provide services to the Trust and commercially, to a number of other NHS and commercial businesses.

We are committed to training nurses and doctors; with three resident doctors and two nurses training in Occupational Health.

The post holder will largely be based in the Education Centre, York Road. The rest of activities are expected to be delivered from the Royal Brompton or Harefield hospital sites as well as other customers location. There may be an option to deliver part of their job plan remotely.

Applicants must be able to work well within a multi-disciplinary team and possess strong leadership skills communicating effectively to promote innovation, effect change, and communicate effectively with managers and employees. Experience of working in a large complex multi-disciplinary organisation would be an advantage.

Applicants must have full GMC registration, a licence to practise and be eligible for inclusion on the GMCs Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to a Certificate of Completion of Training in Occupational Medicine, hold Membership or Fellowship of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.

The post holder will have regular contact with vulnerable adults and/or children (0-18 years) and therefore this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
