Job summary
This fellowship post has been approved by the Royal College of Surgeons of England as part of the RCS Senior Clinical Fellowship scheme. It will provide excellent experience in all forms of dialysis access in adults. The main focus will be on the assessment, management and care of the population of patients on haemodialysis, and there will also be the opportunity to gain experience in peritoneal dialysis care.
The post would be suitable for: general surgical trainees, in particular those with an interest in renal transplantation, and vascular trainees seeking to understand the theoretical and practical aspects of managing the renal failure population.
The post will provide experience suitable for either Phase 2 or Phase 3 of the ISCP General Surgery curriculum or Vascular Surgery curriculum. Doctors who have gained Certificate of Completion of Training looking to gain subspecialty training are also encouraged to apply, as appropriate experience at this level could also be provided. Training in both standard and complex haemodialysis access surgery will be provided by working alongside experienced Consultants. There is a significant emphasis on multidisciplinary team working within the Department, and there will be opportunities to gain experience with Ultrasound, Ultrasonic Angiology, Interventional Radiology and Anaesthetic techniques.

- Diagnosis and treatment of patients of the Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust in such hospitals, health centres or clinics or other premises as required.
- Continuing clinical responsibility for the patients in your charge, allowing for all proper delegation to, and training of, your staff.

The Department of Nephrology and Transplantation at Guy's is one of the largest in the UK, providing kidney care to South East London, neighbouring areas of Kent and Channel Islands. In addition, we receive a significant number of complex referrals from a much wider geographical area.
