Specialty Doctor in Adult Cardiac Surgery
From £59,175 - £95,400 pa. excl. LZ
Full Time- 10 sessions per week and some additional sessions for On Call
Fixed Term - 6 months
Applications are invited for a position of Specialty Doctor in Cardiac Surgery, starting September 2024 . The post will be for an initial period of six months with opportunities for extension and will be based at St. Thomas Hospital. Although these are service posts, the department has a good training record of Fellows. Applications are also welcome from those in possession of Certificate of Completion of Training in Cardiothoracic Surgery in the UK or overseas and who wish to obtain further experience in complex mitral or complex aortic-vascular surgery.
Main duties of the job
The post will be based at St. Thomas' Hospital at Guy's and St Thomas'Trust. However, it is a requirement of your employment that you be prepared to work at any additional or different location owned or served by the Trust, either on an on-going or temporary basis according to the demands of the service.To provide clinical services for cardiac surgery patients in support of the consultant surgeons.Duties will include training and mentoring of less experiencedcolleagues and other staff, participation in clinical audit and in clinicalresearch projects. Clinical areas covered will mainly include theatres,wards, intensive overnight recovery unit and outpatients.To participate in clinical and other service activities with the object ofensuring a high standard of patient careTo participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching andtraining
