Locum Consultant in Plastic Surgery (Skin)
Full Time - 10PA
The Plastic Surgery Department at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals seeks a plastic surgery consultant with a subspecialist interest in skin cancer management. Experience of close collaborative working in the setting of a local skin cancer multi-disciplinary teams is essential. Candidates must be familiar with all aspects of cutaneous oncology management. Alongside working at Guy' and St Thomas' Hospitals, 3 days a fortnight is spent at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital ((Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Foundation Trust, Woolwich) supporting the surgery and dermatology departments. Outpatient activities have a strong emphasis on skin cancer management, Care for inpatients is coordinated with the St Thomas' Hospital plastic surgery on-call team. The dermatology department skin cancer team is a friendly, close group in the context of the weekly multi-disciplinary meeting working amiably with the surgical member. The appointed plastic surgery consultant will be the link between the local MDM and the specialist MDM, based at Guy's Hospital.
Main duties of the job
To provide a Plastic Surgery service in conjunction with colleagues
The post holder will have a specialist expertise in surgical aspects of Dermato Oncology
To contribute to sector lead MDT's
To participate in clinical and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care
To take an active part in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training
To contribute to the management of the clinical service and service development, including support of satellite sites across London
To assist in the future development of the Plastic Surgery department
