Job summary
The post holder will effectively manage, lead and co-ordinate the engineering staff to ensure the Trust functions effectively, economically and safely. The Engineering Team Manager has a crucial contribution to providing an effective service. The post holder will be professionally qualified and be an effective manager with adequate leadership skills.The post holder will lead a Multiskilled mechanical/electrical service to the Engineering Department and other directorates within Guy's and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT). They will demonstrate commitment, versatility and flexibility whilst undertaking all tasks and delegated work as instructed by the engineering senior management team.They will need to use their own initiative, act independently and direct the frontline workforce. They will have the ability to organise and prioritise own workload where required and work unsupervised using their initiative.The post holder will hold staff to account for effective performance and be responsible for the management of HR issues and will manage a number of competing priorities.

Acts as an Authorised Person in accordance with Health Technical Memorandums. These duties involve seeking sign off for permission to isolate services from clinical staff (explaining the complexity of engineering systems), proving systems are safe to work on and testing prior to their reinstatement.
Be responsible for the implementation of a realistic reviewed and updated planned preventive maintenance system (including condition-based monitoring) and to decrease the level of PPM activities to a lower and more effective level in the order of 25% of all maintenance
Deputise for the Engineering/Project Liaison Engineer in their absence.
Ensure the maintenance of the day to day efficient and safe working of all mechanical and electrical plant running on all sites
