Job summary

The Lung directorate based at Royal Brompton Hospital is looking for an experienced operational service manager with excellent communication skills and a passion for delivering high quality patient care.

Main duties of the job

The service manager will manage the day to day running of services and lead on delivery against all key performance areas including finance, access targets and productivity. They will manage a team of deputy service managers providing direct support to respective sub services within respiratory medicine and thoracic surgery

The post holder will play an active role in driving forward service development initiatives and improvement projects for effective implementation and timely delivery. They will contribute to the stabilisation of Epic across the directorate and play a part in the strategic planning of the Health informatics team.

About us

The successful candidate will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure that we deliver a high quality and timely service to our patients and build strong working relationships with the immediate team and external colleagues working within the network while taking responsibility for the administrative function of the team.

You will work with some of the largest specialist lung services recognised nationally and internationally for clinical excellence, innovative research, and the development of novel diagnostic and treatment pathways.

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.

Previous experience

  • Evidence of managing successful operational performance and improvement; including the development and monitoring of output and outcome measures; design, development, implementation and management of change in a multi-professional environment;
  • Evidence of managing successful project and / or operational performance and improvement; including the development and monitoring of output and outcome measures.
  • Experience of managing complex budgets from a range of income sources and demonstrable evidence of individual, team, financial, process and change management.

  • Managing Consultants and junior doctors
