Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced paediatric nurse to join our Paediatric Spinal and Orthopaedic Multidisciplinary Team as a Specialist Sister.

We are seeking to recruit a dynamic and innovative experienced paediatric nurse who will bring excellent clinical skills and knowledge, and a desire to maintain a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. You should have an evidence of prior leadership and management and uphold professional standards.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone with extensive expertise in orthopaedic and spinal surgery. As an expert in the speciality you will be at the forefront of continuing development of pathways to improve the patient journey and experience.

You'll need to be able to take the lead and act on your own initiative, to assess and plan how to meet goals and objectives for yourself, staff and other service users. You need to have excellent communication skills and demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with families and within the multidisciplinary team, both verbally and in writing. You will support junior members of the practice development team to develop these skills themselves.

You will need to have experience in creating and updating skill-gap analysis for all staff, reviewing training needs and actioning any gaps in education. You will be expected to collaborate with the ward sister to identify appropriate development plans and specialist teaching/training for all staff. You will support newly qualified nurses in completing all necessary general competencies.

Prior experience in paediatric orthopaedic and spine surgery is essential. The successful candidate will be well supported by the Matron and the rest of the multi-disciplinary team.
