Job summary

We are looking for candidates to join our Clinical Engineering team, and support the effective adoption, deployment, maintenance and use of medical devices.

The post holder will assist with medical device management across the Trust by contributing to a range of activities that include optimal procurement, device training, maintenance management, safety, associated assurance measures and record keeping.

Those considering eventually joining the scientific training programme are also encouraged to apply.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work to meet the technical, operational and administrative challenges posed by varied nature of our customer requests; in particular, supporting the delivery of our medical devices safety, R&D governance and medical devices user-training activities. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our network of practice development staff across the organisation to ensure compliance with the Trust medical devices training policy.

This means using ingenuity, problem-solving and communication skills, alongside technical understanding, to deliver the technologies that often define services in our Trust. The role requires reflexibility to work across a number of workstreams as dictated by the demands on the service; and as a result this creates exposure to a number of development opportunities.

The candidates we seek will be qualified to degree or equivalent level in a relevant subject, with previous experience demonstrating responsibility for medical devices safety or similar work.

About us

Applicants will be expected to have a genuine affinity to the Trust's values; putting patients first in all they do. High standards of spoken and written communication and interpersonal skills will be an advantage, as well as some understanding of the modern healthcare environment. You will work for a team with great development potential and real capacity to influence and optimise processes on a local, regional and national level. At times there may be an expectation for the applicant to work at any of our sites in central London.

At Guy's & St. Thomas', we have a Values and Behaviours framework which is embedded throughout the Trust. It is part of our culture and by demonstrating these values, we have a shared way of acting.
