Job summary

The Director of Clinical Coding Services will lead the integration and transformation of the clinical coding services across Guy's and St Thomas' with those of Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals, creating a new and fully effective organisational structure for the Clinical Coding Department (CCD).

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will drive a sustainable improvement in coding accuracy, depth, completeness and productivity within the CCD and across all clinical services, through accommodating and optimising the impact of EPIC, and through the ongoing delivery of training and quality audits.

The post-holder will also be the first point of contact for senior Trust colleagues, and the Trust's primary source of expertise, in relation to coding expertise, while providing oversight and guidance as to how the CCD provides optimal service and support to other Trust departments and teams (e.g. Finance, Operations, the CMO office etc).

They will lead the CCD and be lead expert on coding for Trust wide programmes such as the Elective Recovery Programme, EHR (EPIC) optimisation and Digital Patient Journey. Where these contributions allow, the post-holder will also develop commercially viable clinical coding services to other NHS and private healthcare organisations.

They will represent the Trust in external regional (e.g. ICS) and national groups in relation to clinical coding and other health data analytics' forums.

  • ACC qualified with significant experience at a senior level and demonstrable CPD
