Job summary

Effective management and co-ordination of all non-clinical services, within the Essentia Directorate is crucial to the Trust functioning effectively, economically and safely. The Engineering Department's management of engineering services plays a crucial contribution to this service provision. It demands a total professional approach and commitment from all Engineering staff. The role of the post holder within this crucial position is to carry out day to day maintenance of the engineering building services plant and equipment.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide an electrical service to the Engineering Department and other directorates within Guy's and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT). They will demonstrate total commitment, versatility and flexibility whilst undertaking all tasks and delegated work as instructed by the engineering team.

Ability to organise and prioritise own workload where required and work unsupervised and independently.

The post holder will held to account for effective performance and will need to manage and balance competing priorities.

  • Recognised full apprenticeship in relevant trade / NVQ level 3 / BTEC national certificate or equivalent training.
  • Demonstrable experience working within this trade. 18th edition.

Desirable

  • Certified person (CP) in their current trade or associated trade.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working on LV power and lighting circuits both install and fault finding.
  • Able to communicate technical information to specialist and non-specialists.

Desirable

  • Has experience in health and safety.
  • Experience of using Key Performance Indicators.

Knowledge and Ability

Essential

  • Excellent oral and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of other trades and ability to work with them.

Desirable

  • Ability to evaluate the needs of other colleagues.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word / Excel and Power point.
