Job summary

Please note that the following posts are available:

  • Full Time 37.5 hours per week (5 out of 7 days; including early, late, and weekend shifts)
  • Part Time 15 hours per week (5 out of 7 days)

We are looking to recruit friendly individuals who will demonstrate a caring and compassionate approach to work, primarily in our retail outlets. You will be involved in all aspects of the food and beverage service to patients, customers, and staff, undertaking the preparation for the service of breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Other areas of work may include vending services, delivery of function food to all areas of the hospital, and patient meal service when required. You will have varied responsibilities and therefore a positive and cheerful attitude is a must, along with a drive to improve the patient experience.

This role is challenging but rewarding and is ideal for those who are motivated and are team players. Previous experience within a busy catering environment would be beneficial (but not essential). A Level 2 Award in Food Safety for Catering is essential.

Main duties of the job

  • To deliver an enhanced catering service on the private ward, which is effective and efficient ensuring the highest standards of food safety and customer service are always maintained.
  • To serve all patients in all aspects of the day to day running of the ward, meals and beverages as per the menu and at the times specified.
  • To carry out the preparation and service of all manner of foods as detailed by way of menu's on the ward. To comply with instruction on portion control, presentation and recording all information pertaining to the service as may be required.
  • To assist in ensuring all food and beverages for the mealtime menu and other utensils and commodities are available for the catering service.
  • To carry out the hygienic cleaning of catering and associated implements required for the patient service to include, light equipment and utensils as detailed in the cleaning schedule or as required ensuring safe and hygienic environment for all users of the service.
  • To project a friendly and professional attitude to all patients and customers using the services and demonstrate menu/dish knowledge when enquiries are made.
