Are you a highly motivated individual with experience in working with children and families?
We are seeking an energetic, motivated Band 7 Occupational Therapist (OT) with an interest to work in the specialist clinical area for children with skeletal dysplasias. You will work within our multidisciplinary team (MDT) in this nationally and internationally visible service which aims to deliver best evidenced care to children and their families.
The skeletal dysplasia service is the leading centre in the UK for children with achondroplasia and skeletal dysplasias. Many of the children willhave short stature, and present with challenges developing their independence in their daily occupations.
Children you see may also present with additional medical and/or neurodevelopmental conditions.
Main duties of the job
You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team (MDT), lead therapy-only clinics, and provide consultation and advice across all domains of occupation, supporting children and young people to develop independence in areas of self-care, school work and leisure/play, alongside their families and local teams. You will support children and young people with achondroplasia and other skeletal dysplasias to develop independence. You will liaise closely with community therapy services and other agencies. You will critically appraise literature and may participate in departmental audits or research projects.

You will work within the Paediatric OT service at the Evelina London Children's Hospital, at the St Thomas' Hospital site. The paediatric OT teamconsists of 20 paediatric occupational therapists and two occupational therapy assistants.
