We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic individual for the post of Clinical Research Fellow in Skeletal Dysplasia to join our dynamic and friendly Paediatric Genetics Research team at Guy's and St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust.
This post is an exciting opportunity for a specialist trainee (ST3-ST5 grade) who would like to undertake a period of clinical research within skeletal dysplasia field in a large tertiary centre.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide sub-investigator and medical support working on a variety of commercially sponsored clinical trials in achondroplasia and skeletal dysplasia, and the metaphyseal chondrodysplasia type Schmid (MCDS) drug repurposing trial. They will also be assisting in an exciting project to investigate the application of novel bioinformatics algorithms, deep phenotyping and machine learning approaches to identify novel disease genes and mechanisms for musculoskeletal patients (MSK) in the Genomics England (GeL) 100,000 Genomes Project (100KGP). This is supported by an MRC grant to facilitate solving undiagnosed cases submitted to 100KGP with unexplained skeletal dysplasia.
The majority of this work (commercial trials and MCDS trial) will be undertaken at the Evelina and at St Thomas', with some off-site working where required. The 100K GECIP activities will be conducted remotely and at Guy's Hospital in clinical genetics. This will entail reanalysis of both phenotypic and genotype data and collaboration with the team in Oxford, attending MDM on a monthly basis, liaising with Genomics England and other Genomic Medicine Centres to access data (in accordance with the established 100K governance framework).

Working within Specialist Ambulatory Service and Evelina Paediatrics Genetics Research, we aim to deliver safe clinical trials to children with rare diseases.
