The clinical fellow will take part in all the clinical activities of the department. The duties, sufficient to maintain and develop their pre-existing skills, will be negotiated with the Consultants in Paediatric Cardiology.

The postholder will be responsible for the care of neonates, infants, children and adolescents with congenital heart disease undergoing cardiac investigation and treatment on an in-patient and out-patient basis. This will also include assessment of day cases being seen on the daycase unit. In addition, the post holder will complete the medical discharge summaries.

The post holder will be trained in the various diagnostic techniques, such as cross-sectional and colour Doppler echocardiography and if appropriate, transoesophageal echocardiography and stress testing. The appointee may be exposed to other procedures such as cardiac catheterisation and angiography, interventional catheterisation, electrophysiological testing and ablation, pacing and magnetic resonance imaging.

There are daily out-patients clinics (Monday-Friday) at Evelina London Childrens Hospital and the trust fellow can be expected to attend (on average) 1-2 clinic/week but depending on the rota.
