Job summary

The Clinical Engineering Department is responsible for the support and maintenance of the Trust's wide range of medical equipment. It undertakes development projects, research support, and provides a comprehensive service for the selection, purchase and management of equipment as well as interfacing medical equipment to information systems working closely with the Information Technology department. You will participate in the full range of the clinical engineering activities at the Royal Brompton Hospital Sites.

Main duties of the job

This is a band 5 post to work as a Clinical Engineering Technologist. Following 1-2 years of training and development there will be an opportunity to progress on to a specialist post at a band 6 level. This may be suitable for new graduates or those who wish to develop their career in Clinical Technology and Medical Equipment Management.

You should be:

  • Qualified to at least degree level in a technical or scientific subject
  • A skilled communicator able to deal with internal/external, technical and clinical staff
  • Highly motivated and able to work safely under pressure

It will be an advantage to have:

  • Experience of working in a hospital or other technical or engineering experience
  • Experience of working under an ISO 9000 quality system
  • Experience of a wide range of medical equipment
