Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist - Medical Pathway

This role is an exciting career development opportunity for anyone at B7 level who wishes to retain a clinical role whilst further developing their operational and professional leadership experience, or an existing B8a who wishes to broaden their portfolio. We are looking for someone who is ambitious to gain experience leading high quality care in a strong leadership team of established band 7s and clinical specialists, and is driven to develop respiratory expertise and work within a diverse community and workforce.

The successful candidate will have proven clinical leadership skills and experience across services across the acute medical pathway and critical care. They will lead the Medical physiotherapy respiratory teams at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals and hold a complex clinical caseload including emergency care pathway, respiratory failure, acute non-invasive ventilation and tracheostomy care. Demonstrating compassionate and inclusive leadership skills, they will be operationally responsible for a team of 12.

Applicants should have experience as a highly specialist clinician and team lead with demonstrable research and education experience, alongside experience in implementing quality improvement.

Main duties of the job

To lead the operation, governance and development of respiratory physiotherapy services across the acute medicine pathway of six wards and Level 2 fifteen bedded unit at St. THOMAS' hospital.

To work closely in partnership with the Clinical Leads Physiotherapist, Senior Consultant Physiotherapist and Respiratory Clinical Specialists to inform the development of respiratory physiotherapy services.

To take alead role in the KHP Cardiovascular & Respiratory Partnership Programme, strengthening the profile of physiotherapy to support achievement of the programme vision.

The physiotherapy department is within the Therapies and Integrated Medicine strategic Directorate together with Speech and Language therapy, Occupational Therapy, Foot Health and Psychology. The physiotherapy department has 350 staff and provides services across the Trust and local boroughs.
