Job summary

Are you a highly motivated individual with experience in working with children and families?

We are looking for a Band 3 Occupational Therapy (OT) assistant to work within the Children's OT service at the Evelina London Children's Hospital, at the St Thomas' Hospital site. The paediatric OT team currently comprises of 24 paediatric occupational therapists and 2 occupational therapy assistants.

Main duties of the job

This role will focus on supporting the occupational therapists to provide Occupational Therapy within the hospital setting. Your role will assist with both administrative and clinical related tasks to support the child and family through their journey in the hospital.

You will be working with families and children 0-18 years with a variety of medical conditions and complex needs. Therefore we are seeking an individual who has excellent communication skills and experience of working with children; it would be advantageous if you have experience of working with children with disabilities.

Your role will involve working closely with the occupational therapists in the inpatient service by supporting with administrative tasks such as ordering and managing therapy equipment, creating patient resources and coordination of audio-visual resources in addition to supporting therapy assessment/intervention on the wards.

Another aspect of the role will be to support with some of our specialist out-patient services with group interventions and there will be exciting opportunities to be involved in service improvement projects.

About us

You will receive individual supervision from one of the therapists within the paediatric occupational therapy team, further supported by the clinical lead paediatric OT and professionally managed by the Trust Head OT. There will be opportunities to participate in departmental audits or research projects. We have a monthly professional development programme for all staff.
