An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Research Nurse to work as part of the ED Services at St Thomas' hospital. This is a 12 month fixed term position initially, with the possibility to extend the contract subject to funding availability. We may also consider a secondment position.
The Emergency Department is a highly functioning unit within South London CRN delivering to a wide range of ED studies on the NIHR portfolio. These studies range from observational to randomised controlled trials incorporating a number of research strands including translational, secondary prevention and rehabilitation. Within the portfolio, there are opportunities to be involved in delivering CTIMPs to a wide range of patients attending the ED unit at St Thomas'.
You will have the opportunity to collaborate with senior ED clinicians with a wealth of clinical and research experience in a supportive, educational and clinically effective environment. St Thomas' has a strong track record in delivering major multi centre trials testing acute interventions in different emergency conditions, many of which have now been translated into clinical practice.
Main duties of the job
The Research Nurse will be responsible for the ED portfolio of clinical trials to improve patient recruitment and ensure accurate and timely completion of trial data and documentation. Duties will include identifying potential patients to participate in trials, coordinating trials as per study protocols, collection of clinical data on Case Report Forms (CRFs), and following the principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP).

About us
The candidate will be joining a dynamic, hardworking and supportive team of ED clinical and research nurses and Principal Investigators within the Acute Medicine directorate covering novel and exciting clinical research trials. You will be working alongside leaders in the field of Emergency Research and will have close links with academics through Kings College London (KCL).
As a clinical research nurse in the ED unit you will find many exciting opportunities to develop as well as delivering to ED studies, you will be exposed to the clinical environment of ED and the many facets of evidence -based care deployed.
