Information:

This job is now closed

Job summary

Applications are invited for a locum consultant cardiologist specialising in Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) for a period of twelve months to cover a period of maternity leave. There may be a possibility of subsequent extension. This post covers all aspects of the inpatient and outpatient care of patients with congenital heart disease at Guys & St Thomas' and its Network. The successful applicant will join 25 consultant cardiologists including 5 ACHD Consultants. The ACHD team also includes dedicated clinical nurse specialists and physiologists.

Main duties of the job

The applicant should have a good clinical and academic background in adult congenital heart disease (ACHD). Additional experience in cross-sectional imaging would also be encouraged. This is a full time post (10 PAs) and it is anticipated that the appointee will work closely with the existing consultants to deliver the clinical service as a team.

You must be fully registered with the GMC and hold Licence to Practise and be on the Specialist Register, or within six months of attaining your CCT or equivalent at interview stage.

You may be required to work a shift pattern designed to provide cover for 24 hours a day or extended working day over a seven day week. Your hours of work will be as detailed in your job plan and may be varied from time to time in accordance with the Consultant Contract Terms and Conditions.

As an organisation we are committed to developing our services in ways that best suit the needs of our patients. This means that some staff groups will increasingly be asked to work a more flexible shift pattern so that we can offer services in the evenings or at weekends.

For informal enquiries please contact Dr Yaso Emmanuel (Yaso.Emmanuel@gstt.nhs.uk) at St Thomas' Hospital.
