Job summary
The Clinical Engineering Department is responsible for the support and maintenance of the Trust's wide range of medical equipment. It undertakes development projects, research support, and provides a comprehensive service for the selection, purchase and management of equipment as well as interfacing medical equipment to information systems working closely with the Information Technology department. You will participate in the full range of the clinical engineering activities including Senior team activities at the Royal Brompton Hospital Sites and Wimpole Street Sites.
Main duties of the job
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Manages and supervises the operation of the Clinical Engineering Department Technical Support section ensuring the services delivered effectively support the medical equipment fleet providing sufficient safe equipment for clinical services for the RBH and Wimpole Street sites operating the service within the department's ISO9001 quality system
- Defines and delivers a level of service support for medical equipment and IT equipment for the Wimpole Street site in conjunction with the Operations Manager, the Wimpole General Manager for Private Practice and the Service Delivery Director, Information Services.
- Manages the work of the trainees and apprentices in the technical support team.
- Deputises for the Operations Manager
- Gives advanced support to the Technical Support Specialist Technicians and acts as an expert in medical technology.
- Manages the technical support team's response to hazard notices, safety bulletins and hospital clinical incidents.
- Supports the technical support team's participation in clinical research programmes and provides technical support for other clinical research. Within the post holder's area of expertise, designs and manufactures novel devices to solve clinical problems
