Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for two Production Technicians to join our Chemotherapy Preparation and Dispensing team. The role is fully integrated within our current aseptic team of assistants, pharmacy technicians, science manufacturing technicians and pharmacists. You will be based in the Pharmacy Chemotherapy Unit located in Guy's Cancer Centre.

Main duties of the job

The role will support the production of chemotherapy products for use within the Trust in accordance with GMP, recognised standards and current departmental procedures to ensure a safe, efficient and timely service.

The successful candidate will haveknowledge and skills to

  1. Prioritise workload dependent on the patient's status, appointment time and order of chemotherapy and escalate any issues to the Senior Technician
  2. Troubleshoot routine out of specification results and missing documentation prior to review by the authorised Pharmacists
  3. Respond to nurse queries relating to progress of chemotherapy doses, in order to provide an estimated time for treatment availability
  4. Supervise and train junior members of the team

Essential

  • Accredited specialist knowledge of pharmaceutical production to diploma / BTEC level or equivalent gained through experience.
  • Pharmaceutical Services NVQ level 2

Desirable

  • NVQ 3 in pharmaceutical manufacturing or equivalent experience at that level

Experience

Essential

  • Portfolio demonstrating competence within an aseptic GMP environment manufacturing / preparing medicines

Desirable

  • Experience of supervising junior staff within an aseptic GMP environment manufacturing / preparing medicines

Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work to set procedures. Demonstrated ability to clearly/accurately complete routine documentation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles of GMP and QA in a manufacturing environment
