Job summary

The post is for tenure for two months. The appointment is primarily based at Guy's Hospital. All adult surgery takes place at Guy's Hospital. On-call duties will also include some off-site emergency activity at King's College Hospital. The position is full-time and will include on-call commitments at an experienced SpR level. It offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in advanced rhinology. Some undergraduate and post-graduate teaching and participation in audit is required. Candidates should have appropriate clinical and operative experience .

Main duties of the job

  • To assist in the provision of high quality ENT services to Trust patients, with specific emphasis on rhinology ENT services, including the development of the service.
  • To participate in clinical and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high quality of patient care and to contribute to service developments.
  • To take part in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training.
  • To participate in research activities with the Department.
  • To help maintain the data collection of patients.

The ENT Department at Guy's & St Thomas' provides tertiary referral head and neck cancer, skull base, rhinology/facial plastics and otology (including implantation) and paediatric services. It also provides general secondary level ENT services to Lambeth and Southwark.

The department has two designated wards: Blundell mainly for head and neck and complex ENT patients and Esther which is a short stay surgical ward.
