Job summary
Hedley Atkins is a 24 bedded ward that predominantly cares for patients with cancer including those receiving active treatment, palliative and end of life care. We also support patients with haematology malignancies and sickle cell disease.
We pride ourselves on our MDT approach to patient care and we strive to provide high clinical standards in a supportive environment. The unit is fast paced and challenging and we are looking for a dynamic and passionate deputy to contribute to maintaining high standards of care and to support in leading the nursing team.

Main duties of the job

As a deputy on this ward you will:
- demonstrate your passion for patient centered care.
- support the ward manager, deputy team and PDN to develop staff expertise.
- become an expert practitioner in caring for acutely unwell oncology patients.
You will be able to take full advantage of our links to the Guy's Cancer Academy as well as many other academic institutions for your CPD. You will also have access to a range of MDT expertise including tumour specific CNS teams, palliative care, acute pain, brachytherapy, clinical response teams, chemotherapy, outpatients and radiotherapy but to name a few.
