Job summary

We are looking for a paediatric staff nurse to join our fantastic nursing team on Snow Fox. The successful candidate will have experience in acute paediatric nursing.

We have 2x positions available.

1 x Full time position. (13 shifts per month. A mix of LD's, Nights mon-weds, and Saturday's)

1x Part time position. (9 shifts per month. 3 weeks of 2 shifts per week, 1 week of 3 shifts per week. A mix of LD's, Nights mon-weds, and Saturday's)

Snow Fox is predominantly a nurse-led service, designed for children who only require a short stay in hospital. Through working closely with a range of different specialties, our aim is to provide children and families with an efficient coordinated approach to elective investigations and day treatments.

Our nurse-led pathways enable nurses to autonomously care for patients. You will have the opportunity to work with many specialist teams and clinical nurse specialists. We can support with, and provide many exciting development opportunities. Some of these include; venepuncture & cannulation, pre-assessment and acute assessment skills.

Good team working and communication is at heart of what we do. We are looking for an individual with excellent communication skills who would like to become part of our dedicated, hard-working and cohesive team. The successful applicant will be able to work independently and should be competent in IV medication administration.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be able to independently manage a group of patients, and will learn to deliver autonomous care through following approved nurse-led pathways. Previous experience working in an ambulatory setting is desirable, although not essential.

The post holder will have a good time management, an ability to prioritise, communicate effectively and be able to escalate appropriately. They will be accountable for their own professional actions, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of services users and will work in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through the adoption of person centered care principles.

The post holder will be a team player, and will use their initiative in order to contribute to the smooth running of the ward. They will make positive contributions to the service, and will role model the trust values through their work. The successful candidate will provide guidance and teaching to junior members of the team and students, and will maintain positive working relationships with the wider MDT.

Epic / Apollo experience is desirable.

Job responsibilities

  • Responsible for carrying out clinical practice within designated clinical area, ensuring that high quality, current evidence-based nursing assessment, care planning, implementation, interventions and evaluations for patients is provided from admission through to discharge.
