Job summary
An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for the next 12 months to work with the home mechanical ventilation outreach team at the Royal Brompton Hospital.
Due to maternity leave we have two 12 month fixed term contracts for:
- Band 7 1.0 WTE
- Band 7 0.6 WTE
Both fixed term contracts are offered to nurses or physiotherapists as a secondment or for someone who would like to gain valuable experience working with a specialist home ventilation team in the community within a world renown tertiary referral centre at the Royal Brompton Hospital.
Main duties of the job
To provide advanced assessment and appropriate prescription domiciliary ventilation for patients in other hospitals and in the community. To support development of this service along with other members of the multidisciplinary team and senior physiotherapists.
To support the work and collaboration between hospital and the community in providing integrated holistic respiratory care. This may include providing community patient education and training.

The successful candidates will have:
- Experience working within critical care OR a respiratory ward which delivers non invasive ventilation
- Currently a Band 6 or above
- Has a degree relevant to their profession or similar
- Has a full UK driving licence

Royal Brompton & Harefield hospital have recently become a clinical group of Guys and St Thomas's NHS Trust and form the largest post-graduate specialist heart and lung centre in the UK. - Knowledge and practical experience of respiratory physiological tests and ventilatory support (invasive and non invasive) procedures and techniques
- A minimum of three years experience as a Senior Clinician in critical care or respiratory department managing NIV CPAP, tracheosotmies and weaning patients.
- Knowledge of current national, professional and NHS guidelines
Desirable
- Good understanding and experience of respiratory physiology and anatomy.
