Job summary
A vacancy has arisen for the post of at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. This is a rare opportunity to lead a team of engineers supporting a major cancer centre at Guy's Hospital in central London and our satellite centre at Queen Mary's Hospital in Sidcup.
The Cancer Centre is currently equipped with eight Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators, a TomoTherapy system, three GE CT scanners for simulation, a superficial x-ray treatment unit and an expanding Elekta HDR brachytherapy service. The centre serves a population of 1.9 million and typically treats over 4000 patients per year. There is a thriving research programme and close links with our university partner, King's College London.
The successful applicant will be an electrical/electronic engineer with extensive experience in all aspects of radiotherapy equipment servicing, with specific training and experience on Varian equipment. Experience of managing and rostering staff, managing service schedules, working within quality management systems and budget management would be advantageous.

About us
The radiotherapy engineering team forms part of the Trust's integrated Medical Physics Department, with almost 200 staff providing a comprehensive range of medical physics and clinical engineering services. The lead radiotherapy engineer works closely with colleagues in Radiotherapy Physics, senior colleagues across the radiotherapy professions, and equipment manufacturers' staff. The department is committed to training and development of staff, with a successful apprenticeship programme across Radiotherapy Engineering and the Medical Equipment Management Service (MEMS) as well as STP and HSST trainees.
