Main duties of the job

The Plastic Surgery Department at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals seeks a plastic surgery consultant with a subspecialist interest in skin cancer management. Experience of close collaborative working in the setting of a local skin cancer multi-disciplinary teams is essential. Candidates must to be familiar with all aspects of cutaneous oncology management. Alongside working at GSTT, the post will be located at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Woolwich), supporting the dermatology departments.

You must be fully registered with the GMC and hold License to Practice and be on the Specialist Register, or within six months of attaining Certificate of Completion of Training, or equivalent, at interview stage.

The post holder will have regular contact with vulnerable adults and/or children (0-18 years) and therefore this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Criminal Records Bureau to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Your hours of work will be as detailed in your job plan and may be varied from time to time in accordance with the Consultant Contract Terms and Conditions.

Essential

  • Eligible for full UK GMC registration and a License to Practise
  • On GMC Specialist Register or within three months of attaining CCT
  • FRCS (Plast) or equivalent.

Desirable

  • Other relevant postgraduate qualifications (e.g. MD, PhD, MS, MSc
  • Previous Consultant experience

Clincial Experience

Essential

  • Comprehensive clinical experience plastic surgery, on a day case and inpatient basis

Desirable

  • Experience in clinical guideline development
  • Fellowship in dermato-oncology or equivalent
  • Experience in Epidermolysis bullosa surgical manage-ment

Clinical Skills

Essential

  • Ability to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Team based approach to care and service management, including appreciation of nursing and therapy roles

Desirable

  • Evidence of extensive skin cancer management experience

Audit Managment and IT
