Clinical Fellow in Cardiology
Harefield Hospital
This is a Trust appointment and the main base will be at Harefield Hospital, Middlesex, UB9 6JH. The post holder may also be required to work at our Royal Brompton site on an intermittent basis, or more regularly in due course by mutual arrangement. Additionally, the post holder may be required to work at any of the trusts sites and any associated sites as required.
Duration: 6 months in the first instance, extendable to up to 23 months by mutual consent.
The work covers all aspects of adult cardiology with particular emphasis on interventional techniques including the established Primary Angioplasty Service which is one of the largest in the UK.
Harefield acts as a tertiary referral centre accepting both out-patients and in-patients from local, regional and national sources, as well as direct ambulance led admission for patients with ST elevation myocardial infarction. Direct GP referral is available to outpatient services which incorporate rapid access chest and heart failure clinics.
Main duties of the job
To work alongside the existing specialist registrars in the Heart Division. To undertake clinical work in the Cardiology department. Clinical activity will include out-patient and inpatient care, research and audit.
To provide clinical services in Cardiology, in accordance with clinical and legal requirements and in keeping with the international role of the Trust

To be part of the Cardiology service at Harefield Hospital in collaboration with medical and surgical colleagues and other departments and services.
Participate in new patient and follow-up consultant-led outpatient clinics.
Provide inpatient services to Cardiology patients.
Participate in an on-call rota covering inpatient activity and emergency work.
Supervise and train junior staff allocated to Cardiology.
To work as a full member of the multi-disciplinary team, including participation in the rota and the attendance and presentation at weekly MDTs and meetings.
To undertake regular ward rounds to ensure effective management during the in- patient stay and early discharge of patients whenever possible.
Participate in audit within the department.
Participate fully in the service and training programme of the Division.
Perform routine transthoracic echocardiography, routine right and left cardiac catheterisation and perform and interpret echocardiograms.
