Job summary

The Community Rehabilitation and Falls Service (CRAFS) is looking for a highly motivated Band 7 Physiotherapist to cover maternity leave for a fixed term 12 months.

The service covers Lambeth and Southwark. It is an excellent opportunity for a Band 7 physiotherapist with an interest in community work or an experienced Band 6 physiotherapist looking for a more senior role within a supportive team.

Applicants should have experience of delivering evidence-based rehab to people with a variety of complex co-morbidities and falls.

The post holder will provide clinical leadership, supervision and support to junior staff and be a source of clinical expertise to the MDT. The post offers opportunities to develop leadership skills by enabling you to take a key role in a number of exciting service development initiatives.

Excellent communication skills and an ability to prioritise a caseload of complex patients are essential. The successful candidate will demonstrate flexibility, creativity and the ability to support change. The post holder will be required to contribute to the 7-day intermediate care therapy service on the Pulross Centre inpatient ward in Brixton.

Main duties of the job

  • To perform highly specialised and advanced assessments and treatments as part of the Community Rehab and Falls Service, providing home-based, outpatient and ward based therapy to adults living in Southwark and Lambeth. The caseload consists of adults and older people with a wide range of complex pathologies, functional difficulties and disabilities.

  • To act as team leader, manage designated staff performance and be responsible for the day-to-day co-ordination of the specialist falls prevention interventions as part of the service. The post holder will provide clinical leadership to facilitate seamless rehabilitation of clients.

  • Provide supervision and facilitate professional development with Physiotherapy staff, Therapy Assistants and Physiotherapy students as required.

  • To work autonomously, frequently as a lone practitioner, across a variety of locations within the community including client's homes and residential care settings to meet the individual needs of the multi-cultural population in an inner city area.

  • It is essential the post holder be able to work their hours flexibly and contribute fully to both existing and new rotas. This includes 7 day working and non- traditional shift patterns.
