Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Senior Staff Nurse within the Cardiovascular Directorate on Evan Jones Ward.

The Evan Jones team is a dynamic and friendly team, who are keen to help support and develop nurses interested in experiencing this exciting and changeable environment. If you are an enthusiastic, flexible and passionate cardiology or vascular nurse then this would be the ideal opportunity for you.

Evan Jones is a mixed day case and inpatients. We have 8 cath lab recovery beds and 14 inpatients beds . We prepare and recover patients following cath lab procedures and we take cardiology, vascular and also venous thrombolysis inpatients.

We are looking for a team leader to assist in empowering the staff to ensure a high standard of care is delivered consistently. You will have the opportunity to enhance existing skills in shift co-ordination, mentoring junior staff and colleagues, whilst learning management and leadership skills for the next step in your career. You will be expected to carry out audits, quality rounds and teaching on the ward.

Main duties of the job

The post requires applicant to be able to work under pressure, demonstrate excellent clinical nursing and communication skills, willingness to learn and develop new skills and strive to provide the highest quality care for patients and their relatives.

The applicant must have the ability to coordinate a shift, have good problem solving skills and the ability to identify how to improve the service.

The successful candidate will have an amazing opportunity to work alongside some of the most experienced clinicians in the field of cardiology and vascular in a band 6 capacity.
