Job summary

We have an exciting band 6 rotation Occupational Therapy vacancy within our children's community OT team. We have a permanent position available which will commence in the community based at our two sites Sunshine House Children and Young People Centre and Mary Sheridan Child Development Centre. The post holder will have the opportunity to work with children with development disabilities in the community - at home and school as well as at our child development sites. The post holder will then rotate into the Evelina Hospital OT team and develop acute paediatric experience with a focus on orthopaedic and spinal care.

Main duties of the job

Part of your role will involve working in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team and families in the community. Your main duty will involve providing assessment and interventions with the aim of supporting children with participating in occupations at home, in nursery /school and in the community.

For the rotation into hospital, you will also work on the wards with children to ensure they are able to achieve optimal independence and safety prior to discharge. Liaising closely with community colleagues in health, education and social care to support this. You will also assess for suitable equipment required for elective orthopaedic and spinal surgeries. Your role will involve working closely with the occupational therapists in the inpatient team and will also provide cover across other hospital wards.
