Job summary
To work under the guidance of the nursery management team and/ or other designated staff. To participate in the day to day operation and organisation of the nursery within agreed policies and procedures and to promote solid parent/staff relationships within the group. To work as part of a team, providing a safe, caring and stimulating environment within the Day Nursery for a group of children aged between 3 months and 5 years. To assist in the delivery in the standard of care and education which meets legislative requirements and allows children to develop to their full potential.
Main duties of the job
Risk Management
All post holders have a responsibility to report risks such as clinical and non-clinical accidents or incidents promptly. They are expected to be familiar with the Trust's use of risk assessments to predict and control risk, as well as the incident reporting system for learning from mistakes and near misses in order to improve services. Post holders must also attend training identified by their manager, or stated by the Trust to be mandatory.
Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
Post holders have a general responsibility for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults in the course of their daily duties and for ensuring that they are aware of the specific duties relating to their role.

- To record any of the childs achievements in writing and by the use of photography and video in order to chart their progress
- To co-operate with the whole staff team in daily tasks and participate in setting out and clearing away
- To be aware of all childrens health and safety in the nursery and share relevant information/concerns with the management team
- To respond immediately to any safeguarding concerns and report these concerns in accordance with the nursery policy and procedure
- To participate in in-service training.
- To be involved in all available activities in each area of the curriculum as appropriate to the individual child both inside and outside.
- To be available to discuss with the nursery manager, key worker partner, parents and outside professionals, all aspects of the childs development as and when required.
- To be involved in the development and independence of the child providing appropriate one- to-one support, flexible interchange with other colleagues when required.
- To attend regular supervisions with a member of the management team in order to provide timely updates on individual childrens development
- To provide 6 monthly reports outlining childs progression and potential action plans in order to support childs ongoing needs and development
