Main duties of the job
The post will deliver general medicine and endocrine care and is a position which has arisen as a result of a vacancy. This is an excellent opportunity to join a first class team in an active and progressive central London teaching hospital environment.
The post will involve working with existing members of the Consultant team and wider MDT to provide general and specialist services. The role will include (limited) participation in the GIM rota and mainly inpatient and outpatient specialist endocrine care.
The postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable adults and/or children (0-18 years) and therefore this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

This replacement post involves the delivery of general and specialist endocrinology in addition to contributing to general internal medicine (acute take & inpatients).The role will include outpatient activities in endocrinology, across the full spectrum of endocrine disorders. Care is delivered in dedicated units on both the Guy's and St. Thomas' sites. There are weekly multi-disciplinary meetings for patients with thyroid, adrenal, neuroendocrine and pituitary disorders. The endocrine team has more than 9 Consultants involved in endocrine care delivery with excellent admin support and facilities. There are 6 endocrine specialist nurses, supporting MDMs, clinical care and endocrine investigation. Endocrine clinics (multi-professional, virtual, and face to face) are held daily, as is endocrine testing. Clinics are divided into clinical themes, including new patients, rapid access, thyroid, general, neuroendocrine, rare diseases, adolescent, metabolic bone and pituitary. The post-holder will work alongside colleagues to design and deliver innovative and effective ways to provide endocrine care for a high volume complex case load.

- Eligible for full UK GMC registration and a Licence to Practise.
- On GMC Specialist Register or within six months to attaining CCT in diabetes and endocrinology or equivalent
