An exciting opportunity has arisen for a position of Consultant in Anaesthesia with a special interest in Cardiothoracic and Vascular.
The post holder must be medically qualified, maintain GMC specialist registration and hold a license to practice

The cardiac unit at St. Thomas' Hospital has an international reputation and is one of the largest cardiac units in the country, with 7 adult cardiac surgeons performing over 1200 procedures per annum.
Guy's and St Thomas' trust is home to the UK's largest transcatheter structural intervention programme. Appointees will help to support this work along with other Interventional cardiology services including electrophysiology and complex pacing lead extractions.
Main duties of the job
This is primarily a clinical role, to be carried out at the St Thomas hospital site.
The job is 10 PAs per week for a whole-time contract - 7.5 DCC, 1.5 SPA and 1 PA On call commitment.
7.5 PA per week of clinical activities will include elective theatre work in cardiac, cardiology and ward rounds in the Overnight intensive recovery (OIR). There will be opportunities in thoracic and vascular and preoperative assessment clinics. Clinical work will be over 5 days (Monday to Friday) and weekend work includes ward rounds in the OIR.
This is an outline program and you will be expected to discuss and agree a detailed job plan including your personal and professional objectives with your Clinical Director before commencing the post.

The Theatre, Anaesthesia and Peri-operative Medicine (TAP) directorate has increased its team of Consultant Anaesthetists by a third over the past three years due to expansion of clinical activity. Now, it has over 100 consultants in adult anaesthesia, all with varied interests in specialist areas, working in the dynamic Guys and St Thomas' Foundation Trust, in the Centre of London.
The anaesthesia department is one of the most exciting departments to work in the country and boasts a Professor of Anaesthesia, editors from Anaesthesia, Vice President of the Royal College of Anaesthetists, Association of Anaesthetists and Royal College of Anaesthetists Council members, current DAS President, RCOA examiners, amongst others.

- Eligible for full UK GMC registration and a Licence to Practise.
- On GMC Specialist Register or within six months of attaining CCT at Interview
- Appropriate Career progression to be applying for a new Consultant post

- Higher degree e.g. MD, MBA etc (recognised by the University of London)
- Recent CCT with additional experience
