The Amputee Rehabilitation Unit (ARU)
**This role requires evening and weekends**
ARU is a 12 bedded unit based at the Lambeth Community Care Centre, Kennington. Patients undertake a six week intensive rehabilitation programme. All patients (aged 18+) will have at least one major amputation, and varying levels of functional ability. This can be rooted in a range of reasons, including: vascular disease and diabetes, trauma, sepsis, and oncology.
With strong link to Guy's and St. Thomas' acute services, the unit provides high standards of specialist care. This includes: complex wound management, including VAC therapy and debridement, diabetes care, falls management, and counselling and psychological support. The caseload is challenging but extremely rewarding with no two days the same.
