A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a 12 month fixed term (secondment cover) as Head of Nursing for Clinical Imaging and Medical Physics at GSTT. We are looking for a highly dynamic and self-motivated individual. The Head of Nursing will be accountability for ensuring the delivery of high quality care within the directorate. They will provide operational nursing advice and expertise, leadership and management support across the directorate, and work collaboratively with radiographer, healthcare scientists workforce and wider MDT.
The Head of Nursing is a core member of the directorate management team, and within this management team has responsibility to ensure that all aspects of operational nursing is delivered to agreed high standards which will provide the best possible experience and outcome for patients. Responsible to the Clinical Director and; professionally accountable to the Clinical Group Director of Nursing, this is crucial in delivering the Trust Nursing and Midwifery Strategy and the development of excellent professional practice.
We are looking for a talented, passionate and experienced nurse leader who can demonstrate strong clinical and strategic leadership, with the ability to communicate effectively across multi-professional boundaries as well as create an enviable culture of caring and compassion.
Main duties of the job
The Head of Nursing works as a full member of the Directorate Management team. This team is led by the Clinical Director, who is a full member of the Trust Management Executive. The post holder is accountable to the Clinical Director and works in partnership with the General Manager to ensure the Directorate delivers on all of its objectives across a range of clinical services. They are responsible for providing the Directorate leadership on a range of issues and initiatives and will deputise for the Clinical Director as required.
The Head of Nursing provides strategic, professional and operational nursing leadership across the Directorate and the wider organisation through effective role modelling. The post holder is accountable for the delivery of high quality, cost effective nursing patient care within budget constraints. They provide strong leadership to enable the services to respond effectively to the challenges it will face whilst providing efficient clinical services and sustained improvements.
The post holder will also act as nursing lead for the Directorate in the delivery of the Apollo Programme.
About us
The Directorate provides a comprehensive imaging service across all hospital sites, including Evelina London with modalities including CT, MRI, U/S, X-ray, Breast Imaging, Fluoroscopy and SPECT-CT, Interventional Radiology, as well as a Radioisotope Therapy service in Nuclear Medicine. The Directorate also provides a comprehensive Radiotherapy Physics service for the safe delivery of radiotherapy and is supported by Radiation Equipment Servicing and Radiation Safety teams. The Magnetic Resonance Physics and Nuclear Medicine Physics departments maintain the optimal performance of all relevant equipment, ensuring the safety of patients, staff and the public. The Medical Equipment Management Service is responsible for the support of medical devices and equipment throughout the Trust and manages the medical equipment libraries and Point of Care Testing service.
