Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join us as a full time band 6 Renal Dietitian on a fixed term contract for 9-12 months. You will be joining a friendly, supportive and sociable team.
Renal dietetics is a fantastic area to upskill in dietetics as it requires navigating through complex clinical considerations, medicines management and advanced communication skills.
The post is likely to be a mixture of inpatients and outpatients.
Main duties of the job
The post will involve:
- Covering the urology wards including post surgical urology patients
- Identifying patients that require parenteral nutrition post-surgery
- Assessing and reviewing advanced kidney care patients with an eGFR of < 20
- Assessing and reviewing haemodialysis patients
- Providing renal specific dietary advice including low potassium and low phosphate dietary advice and advice on fluid management
- Possibility of mentoring/ supervising junior members of staff
The successful candidate will need to:
- Have an in depth understanding of biochemistry and diet
- Work closely with the MDT
- Gain an in depth understanding of the dietary requirements for immunosuppressed patients post-transplant
Travel to offsite haemodialysis units and clinics may be required, e.g. to: Tunbridge Wells, Camberwell, Sidcup, New Cross or Lewisham.
