An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, driven and forward-thinking Occupational Therapist to join Guys and St Thomas's NHS Foundation Trust within a Neuro Outlier role.
This is an excellent opportunity for clinically supported development within a Trust that is clinician-led, and strives to provide the highest possible level of clinical expertise throughout its healthcare services. Driven by your enthusiasm and interest in gaining a breadth of experience at senior level within a friendly and proactive Occupational Therapy service you would provide specialist assessment and interventions across different areas.
The Occupational Therapy service has a supportive and progressive management structure with departmental objectives founded upon the principles of the clinical governance framework and trust core values. Multi-disciplinary working within the Trust is well established and Students are accepted on placement from several training schools.
The trust is committed to continuing the professional development of its workforce. The department has structured in-service training and a Band 6 Symposium supported by personal and professional development plans and yearly appraisals. Staff are encouraged to attend courses to continue their clinical development and participate in multi-disciplinary training programmes

Our service aims:
- To provide an individual Occupational Therapy client centred assessment on medical/surgical wards who have a neurological diagnosis for example brain injury, spinal cord injury and stroke across the Guys and St Thomas' Hospital sites.
- To address occupational performance skills, patterns and activity demands in collaboration with patients and MDT.
- To undertake specialist multi needs assessment using analysis and synthesis to develop individual plans.
Our professional offer to you as a Band 6 OT:
- Develop your discipline specific skills, e.g. Occupational Therapy Neurological assessment, cognitive assessment, Upper limb management, rehabilitation and discharge planning and assess for suitable equipment.o Develop your skills in complex case management of clients beyond the scope of your traditional Occupational Therapy practiceo Develop your skills in holistic assessment, problem solving and joint working with other health and social care colleagues, GPs, hospital teams and voluntary sector agencieso Develop supervisory, leadership and service development skill.
- Access appropriate GSTT leadership development training courses to support career developmento Support you to be involved in Occupational Therapy clinical meetings and the delivery and development of Occupational Therapy service.
