We are now recruiting for a Communications and Marketing Manager to join theHealth Innovation Network (HIN). This role would focus primarily on working with our award-winning innovation support programmes, includingDigitalHealth.London's Accelerator and Pioneer programmes, andAccelerating Femtech.
At the HIN, we focus on innovation to improve the lives of patients and staff in the health and care sector. We help innovators and health and care teams in London and across the country to tackle some of the greatest challenges facing the health and care sector, including:
- Reducing the backlog of patients waiting for care;
- Improving the safety, efficiency and effectiveness of the workforce;
- Identifying and reducing health inequalities.
The post holder will lead marketing, communications and engagement activities for our busy innovation support programmes. These programmes help companies navigate the NHS landscape, launch new products and scale the spread and adoption of their innovations to maximise their impact on patients.
More than 140 companies have completed our flagship Accelerator programme, including many innovations now being used by the NHS.
The post also provides support for NHS staff and teams who are developing their own innovations and products, or are working to implement new approaches or tools for delivering care.
Main duties of the job
Our innovation support programmes are delivered in a variety of ways, and we are looking for a flexible communications manager who has a strong track record of using a broad range of communications and engagement skills and techniques to achieve their goals. Some typical activities could include:
- Developing multi-channel strategic marketing campaigns to promote our programmes to target audiences;
- Planning and delivering in-person, hybrid and virtual events;
- Providing communications coaching and consultancy to companies taking part in our programmes;
- Managing the digital and social media presence of key programmes.
The post holder will be expected to be comfortable managing and communicating with different stakeholders, which could include commercial innovators, clinicians, journalists, or senior business leaders. It is essential that the post holder is equally comfortable working autonomously or as a part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high-profile campaigns and other activities.

The HIN is the Academic Health Science Network (AHSN) for south London, one of 15 AHSNs across England. We work across a range of health and care services through each of our clinical and innovation themes, to transform care in diabetes, patient safety, mental health, cardiovascular and healthy ageing and to accelerate innovations into the NHS. AHSNs help mobilise the value that the NHS can add as an economic asset to the UK economy. As an AHSN the HIN works with a range of expert support and services across the health and care sectors that support NHS innovators and companies to realise the commercial and economic potential of their innovations.
As part of the HIN adaptable working principles, which allows our ability to adapt to anticipated changes in project portfolios and gives staff the opportunity to enhance their skills and expertise, the successful candidate may be asked to operate across other themes and projects.
