Senior Clinical Fellows in Paediatric Neurodevelopmental disability

This post is due to start in September 2023 till September 2024.Please note this role is available as either 0.8 WTE or as 1.0 WTE if you are interested in also working 0.2 as middle grade on call (general or specialities rota).
The post is less focused on physical disability, cerebral palsy, or epilepsy as there are existing services and consultant neurologist colleagues who focus on these areas. However, any relevant areas of interest or expertise will be welcomed.
Main duties of the job
This role is to provide mainly outpatient care for children under the care of the Newcomen neurodevelopmental disability service, including occasional elective care/inpatient consults. You will participate in clinical and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care, as well as participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training.
The successful candidate will provide clinical input to the tertiary neurodevelopmental clinics and lead own clinics, including providing: opinions to paediatricians; The children may have an autistic disorder, ADHD, learning difficulties, a range of emotional and behavioural problems including neuropsychiatric conditions and a range of coexisting medical and genetic disorders. They will also provide cross cover across the neurodevelopment service (including other clinics such as behavioural feeding clinics).
About us
The Newcomen Neurodevelopmental Disability Service is part of the Tertiary Neurosciences Department at Evelina London Children's Hospital and is located on the St Thomas' site. It is a tertiary level service for children in the South East of England, with the more severe complex neurodevelopmental disorders often with associated physical, mental and neuropsychiatric problems. We currently offer a wide range of services including multi-disciplinary neurodevelopmental assessment of children with autism and communication disorders; ADHD; intellectual disability; acquired neurological and genetic disorders; psychopharmacology interventions; behavioural intervention for children with challenging behaviour; educational intervention; a complex behavioural feeding service; a wide range of services for children with motor disorders; a developmental epilepsy service; and a sleep service.
The broader Children's Neurosciences Service runs a large number of specialist and multidisciplinary clinics, widening the clinical exposure for successful candidates. They include complex epilepsy, neuromuscular and peripheral neuropathy, neonatal neurology, fetal neurology, neuropathic bladder, movement therapy, neuro-ophthalmology, joint genetics clinic, spina bifida , neurofibromatosis, neurological dysphagia, neuro-haematology (held with KCH for sickle cell cerebral vasculopathy) and a scoliosis clinic.
